Statistics: Russia’s CPI rises 0.8% in December
MOSCOW, Jan 10 (PRIME) -- The Russian consumer price index (CPI) sped up to 0.8% in December from 0.5% in November 2018, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a statement on Thursday.
For the whole of the year, inflation reached 4.3%, overshooting the central bank’s expectations of 4.2% and the Finance Ministry’s forecast of 4.0–4.1%.
In December, consumer prices grew 1.2% and more in 10 regions, including a 2.6–2.9% index increase in the republics of Komi, Kalmykia, and Mary El, the service said.
Retail prices for gasoline went up 9.4% in 2018, but shrank 0.1% on the month in December 2018.
